Pimples and some natural remedies
Although, in dermatological terms, pimples or acne are not identical, they are treated as similar in common parlance. Though apparently, a very common and benign skin disorder, pimples may often manifest in very severe and recurrent manner, driving one helpless in searching for the right remedy. Often acute outbreak of pimples may cause such emotional turbulence that it might lead to social withdrawal.
There are plethora of products to subdue moderate cases of pimples and acne. Sometimes, when no remedy is really working, it is recommended to look for natural or herbal remedies. Natural remedies, extracted from plants, have been used for generations because of their medicinal properties. In oriental societies, particularly in south-west Asian countries, natural remedies and herbal supplements are very popular. In india, there is an ancient discipline of herbal treatment known as ‘Ayurveda’, which is becoming globally popular too. In the USA and the western counties also, several research institutes have been founded for Complementary and alternative Healthcare treatment to evaluate the efficacy of herbal remedies. In this article, I would like to discuss about some natural supplements.
One natural herb is Echinacea (Echinacea angustifolio) which has antibacterial properties to fight acne. Some soaps containing echinacea, as the primary ingredient, are marketed as viable antibiotic facial cleanser that helps fight and clear acne. This type of soap is also used to cure eczema, acne rosacea and psoriasis. Scientific research also shows that Echinacea helps the body provide the proper enzymes at the cellular rootlevel to protect cells against the onslaught of bacteria. Echinacea is also known as a cure for insect bites and burns.
Witch hazel(Hamamelis virginiana) is a plant, which was used by the native americans to cure pimples. It is still recommended as a topical astringent and natural acne remedy. But pne word of caution -When using these topical acne treatments it is important to be gentle.
Apart from the natural remedies, diet plays an important role in overall health and maintenance of healthy skin. What one needs is a balanced diet, rich in vegetables and fruits, providing the required vitamins and minerals to support clear skin. Excessive sebum is one of the contributing causes of pimples or acne, a diet containing good amount of vitamin A may decrease sebum production. Different B vitamins, particularly vitamin B-6, is beneficial as it is helpful for maintaining proper metabolism of steroid hormones and sexual hormones, which are attributors of acne.
The creams and lotions do not often help in combating pimples. Also, it is necessary to explore natural remedies and follow different helpful dietary recommendation to complement and supplement the process of treatment. In addition, one needs to keep in mind the fact that our skins vary in terms of texture, tone and type from person to person. So there is no unique or uniform remedy that would apply similarly to everyone. There are a lot of online resources on pimples or acne; you may visit a blog for some valuable information and guidelines.
