Seborrheic keratosis is a waxy, oily form of actinic keratosis. An SK is a noncancerous benign skin growth, so it poses no other potential dangers. Seborrheic keratosis is caused by keratinocytes. They also resemble warts because of its pasted on appearance and sometimes associated with old age, thus it is also referred to as the barnacles of old age. The true origin of this is still a mystery.

Treatments for seborrheic keratosis include cryosurgery and electrocautery. Electodessication and curettage is used for instances that are big enough. With surgical excision, a scalpel is used instead of a curette.
